So, it’s time! Time to embrace the sparkles that nature has so kindly blessed you with. The problem? Your solid hair color that you have been coloring for the past few years… So, how do we grow it out without looking like a version of Cruella de Vil? Now, I’m not gonna lie to you, there will come a point where you just have to let it go and let it grow out the rest of the way, but lucky for you we have a few tricks up our sleeve to help with the transition!
- Switch to Foils only – Whether you want to lighten your hair or stick with blending out the same color you have, switching to spaced out foils will allow some of that natural grey to show in between, allowing for more blended regrowth. As your hair grows out you can gradually keep doing less and less foils and the result will be a sort of reverse ombre effect. Eventually, just letting the grey go completely.
- Cut it short – The quicker the end color comes off, the sooner you will have all natural hair. This option is not for everyone, but if you like shorter hair or are considering trying a shorter style, now would be the time to do it. The average person’s hair grows 6 inches in a year. So if you have a short bob, you could essentially grow all your grey out in about a year!
- Blonde Blonde Blonde – Add in some light, ashy, highlights. When toned to an ashy color, blonde can look very similar to grey and this will help to blend out the grey as it comes in. Keep in mind that you will probably have to maintain your blonde with a silver shampoo and/or conditioner to keep the ashy tone.
- Stay Strong – There will come a point where you probably don’t love it and it’s at an awkward stage, but just remember the end goal! Chat with your stylist and see if they can recommend some new ways of styling that can help hide the color contrast. Soon you will be all natural and it will be amazing!
